1 About This Guide Thank you for purchasing Huawei S1700 series switches. This guide describes the installation and cable connections of S1700 series switches. Figures in the document are for reference only and may not show the actual appearance of the switches. - Page 3 Installation Procedure Step 1 Secure mounting brackets to the chassis with M4 screws. To install the S1720-10GW-2P, S1720-10GF-2P and S1720-10GW-2P-E switches in a cabinet/rack, use the long mounting brackets (purchased separately) shown in the following figure, instead of the short mounting brackets delivered with the switch by default. To prevent injuries, do not connect a power cable while the power is on. Connecting a Power Cable An AC terminal locking latch can prevent an AC power cable from failing or loosening. The MODE button on the front panel of some switches is used to switch the indicator mode to STAT, SPED, or PoE. Indicators on S1700 series switches have different meanings. For details, see the The following table describes only the meanings of the PWR, SYS, and RUN indicators. - Page 7 NOTE To ensure device security, change the default password immediately after logging in to the switch for the first time. For security purposes, a password must contain at least two types of the following: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, digits, and special characters (such as ! $ # %). In addition, the password cannot contain spaces or single quotation marks ('). To ensure device security, change the password periodically.
