3. Assembling the DC input power cable for
PowerEdge XR-series heater
To construct the DC input power cable for the heater, perform the following steps:
Steps
1. Strip the insulation from the ends of the DC power wires exposing approximately 0.394 - 0.433 inches (10 - 11 mm) of
copper wire.
2. Insert the US NEC black (European IEC gray) wire into input plug housing position marked DC IN -48V.
3. Secure the wire using the heater input plug screw. Tighten the screw to an approximate torque of 7 LB-in +/-5% (0.8 N-m
+/- 5%).
4. Insert the US NEC red (European IEC brown) wire into input plug housing position marked DC IN RTN.
5. Secure the wire using the heater input plug screw. Tighten the screw to an approximate torque of 7 LB-in +/-5% (0.8 N-m
+/- 5%).
CAUTION:
Ensure that all cable wire strands are inserted into the input plug housing position. Non-contained
wire strands can short and cause potential damage. Cable wire strands should not be visible after proper
installation.
WARNING:
Failure to follow the documented assembly instructions could result in potential property
damage, personal injury, or death.
