    Start screen You can go back to the Start screen from an app or the desktop by the following ways: Tap the Start charm. Tap the Start button ( ) in the lower-left corner of the screen (Only on Desktop). For detailed information, please refer to the Windows Help and Support.

    Figure 2-3 Turning on the power 1. Power button Initial setup The Windows Startup Screen will be the first screen displayed when you turn on the power. Follow the on-screen instructions on each screen in order to properly install the operating system. When it is displayed, be sure to read the License Terms carefully.

    Search This charm allows you to search your tablet (apps, settings and files), the web, or within an app. You can also find the Search icon on the upper right of the Start screen. Share This charm allows you to share items (links, photos, and more).
  • Page 28 Shut Down Mode When you turn off the power in Shut Down Mode, no data will be saved and the tablet will boot to the operating system's main screen the next time it is turned on. If you have entered data, either save it to the internal storage or to other storage media.
  • Page 29 When you have to turn off your tablet aboard an aircraft or in places where electronic devices are regulated or controlled, always completely shut down the tablet. This includes turning off any wireless communication functionalities, and cancelling settings that reactivate the tablet automatically, such as a timer recording function.
  • Page 30 Sleep Mode limitations Sleep Mode will not function under the following conditions: Power is turned back on immediately after shutting down. Memory circuits are exposed to static electricity or electrical noise. Hibernation Mode The Hibernation Mode feature saves the contents of memory to the internal storage when the tablet is turned off so that, the next time it is turned on, the previous state is restored.

    Web Camera Web Camera is a device that allows you to record video or take photographs with your tablet. You can use it for video chatting or video conferences using a communication tool. Your tablet is equipped with a front Web Camera. Web Camera (back) is provided with some models.

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack provides power to the tablet when the AC adaptor is not connected.

    Chapter 4 Operating Basics This chapter describes the basic operations of your tablet, and highlights the precautions that should be taken when using it. Using the Touch Screen You can use your finger to manipulate icons, buttons, menu items, the onscreen keyboard, and other items on the touch screen.

    Swipe Quickly move your finger in from the edge of the screen, without pausing when you first touch it. Swipe from the left edge: shows your recently opened apps, and so on. Swipe from the right edge: opens or closes the charms (Search, Share, Start, Devices, Settings).
  • Page 39 To recharge the battery pack, connect the AC adaptor to the Micro-USB port on the tablet and plug the other end into a working outlet. Use only the tablet connected to an AC power source or optional TOSHIBA Battery charger to charge the battery pack. Never attempt to charge the battery pack with any other charger.
  • Page 40 The battery is nearly completely discharged. In this instance you should leave the AC adaptor connected for a few minutes and the battery should begin charging. A battery meter icon will appear indicating the charging status.
