    If the computer has been used for a long time, avoid direct contact with the metal plate supporting the various interface ports as this can become hot. The surface of the AC adaptor can become hot when in use but this condition does not indicate a malfunction.

    This chapter provides an equipment checklist, and basic information to start using your tablet. If you use an operating system that was not pre-installed by TOSHIBA, some of the features described in this manual might not function properly. In this manual, both words "tablet" and "computer" refer to the TOSHIBA tablet.

    Conventions This manual uses the following formats to describe, identify, and highlight terms and operating procedures. Internal storage Your tablet is equipped with an eMMC (Embedded Multi Media Card). In this manual, the word "internal storage" refers to the eMMC unless otherwise stated. Always use the TOSHIBA AC adaptor that was included with your tablet, or use AC adaptors specified by TOSHIBA to avoid any risk of fire or other damage to the tablet. Use of an incompatible AC adaptor could cause fire or damage to the tablet possibly resulting in serious injury.
  • Page 19 When you connect the AC adaptor to the tablet, always follow the steps in the exact order as described in this User’s Manual. Connecting the power cable to a live electrical outlet should be the last step otherwise the adaptor DC output plug could hold an electrical charge and cause an electrical shock or minor bodily injury when touched.

  • Page 37: Chapter 4 Operating Basics

    Chapter 4 Operating Basics This chapter describes the basic operations of your tablet, and highlights the precautions that must be taken when using it. Using the Touch Screen You can use your finger to manipulate icons, buttons, menu items, the onscreen keyboard, and other items on the touch screen.

    Swipe Quickly move your finger in from the edge of the screen, without pausing when you first touch it. Swipe from the left edge: shows your recently opened apps, and so on. Swipe from the right edge: opens or closes the charms (Search, Share, Start, Devices, Settings).
  • Page 39 Pen clip The pen clip allows you to insert the pen into the pen hole on the tablet. Side buttons The pen is equipped with two side buttons which support right-click and eraser functions. Right-click: Press and hold the button and touch an object with the pen tip.

    Pen actions You can use the Stylus Pen to enter data, start programs, move objects and execute other actions. Single tap Lightly tap the tip of the Stylus Pen on an object and lift it immediately to execute an action. Double tap Lightly tap the tip of the Stylus Pen twice on an object and lift it immediately to execute an action.

    When the pen tip breaks, replace it with the refill delivered with the Stylus Pen. When these refills have run out, you can purchase a new pen set from a TOSHIBA authorized dealer. Always use the refills delivered with the Stylus Pen. Use of an incompatible refill could cause a malfunction or characteristic deterioration.

It provides Bluetooth keyboard with powerful features and great convenience when using your tablet. Grand tour The following figure shows an overview of the Keyboard.

    To manually disconnect the Keyboard, tap Bluetooth Keyboard and tap Remove device. The touch pad might not work properly by immediate use after turning on the Bluetooth keyboard. If it happens, turn off/on the keyboard again and wait for over three seconds. Reconnecting the Keyboard Under any of the following conditions, the connection between your tablet and the Keyboard will be lost.
