2.1 Overview

Functions
An STS converts low-voltage (LV) AC power generated by solar inverters into
medium-voltage (MV) AC power and feeds it into a power grid.
It is a steel-structure container that houses devices include the LV cabinet,
transformer, ring main unit, and auxiliary power supply to provide a highly
integrated power transformation and distribution solution for utility-scale PV
plants in MV grid-connection scenarios.
Networking
The STS applies to grid-connected large PV plants. A typical grid-connected PV
system consists of PV strings, SUN2000 solar inverters, switch boxes, and an STS.
