Before Requesting Service

Before calling for service, please check the following troubleshooting table.

Symptom

No power

Sudden power failure

Possible cause

• The specified batteries not loaded correctly.

• A formatted SmartMedia card not loaded

properly, or no card loaded.

• Dead batteries.

• (For using the supplied AC adapter) The

adapter not connected correctly, or wrong

AC adapter.

• The battery compartment cover not closed

securely.

• Power is automatically turned off for saving

whenever you do not perform any operation

for about three minutes (Auto Power Off).

• Low battery power

• Use of manganese batteries

• The battery compartment cover not closed

securely.

Suggestion

• Correctly load batteries (page 14).

• Load the SmartMedia card correctly (page 17).

• Replace all four batteries with a set of new ones or

fully charged rechargeable batteries (page 14).

• Properly connect the adapter (page 16).

Use only the supplied AC adapter.

• Make sure to close the cover.

• Slide the POWER switch again.

• Replace all four batteries with a set of new ones or

fully charged rechargeable batteries (page 14).

• Replace manganese batteries with alkaline, nickel

cadmium (Ni-Cd) rechargeable or nickel metal

hydride rechargeable batteries.

• Make sure to close the cover.
