Maintenance

ÄKTA ready XL is used with a single use isocratic flow kit and gradient section. Main-
tenance tasks performed by the user are therefore few and simple. Regular mainte-
nance is, however, important for safe and trouble-free operation of ÄKTA ready XL.
This chapter provides instructions for maintenance by the user. Preventive mainte-
nance should be performed on a yearly basis by qualified service personnel author-
ized by GE Healthcare. Contact your GE Healthcare representative for more service
information.

Regular maintenance is important for safe and trouble-free operation of the system.
This section provides instructions for daily maintenance by the user.
For proper function the system should be kept clean and dry:
Remove the flow kit, if applicable.
Clean the outside of the system before service or maintenance. Water with weak
detergent should be used for daily cleaning of the cabinet. 70% ethanol or 2-
propanol (Isopropanol) can be used for sanitization.
Clean the flow meter regularly, especially if the process liquid includes salt. The
pins must be kept free of salt.
