INSTALLATION
UNPACKING
¢ Remove all packaging material.
e Unpack all parts.
e Insert the batteries in the battery compartment
of the remote control as indicated (fig. 4).
MAINS VOLTAGE SETTING
¢ Check that the type plate at the rear of the unit
indicates the correct mains voltage.
e Consult your dealer if this is not the case.
CONNECTIONS (fig. 3)
Only insert the mains plug into the wall socket
if the loudspeakers are connected!
A FM 75Q
For FM cable sevice or outdoor aerial. Also for
the auxiliary aerial supplied; aim this for opti-
mum reception.
B AM LOOP ANT
For the frame aerial supplied for long and medi-
um wave (LW/MW).
C Support for the frame aerial
Press the frame aerial in the support (fig. 5) and
aim it for optimum reception.
For
other equipment or the au-
dio output of a TV.
E@LOandOR®
For the loudspeaker enclosures. Attach the loud-
speaker cables to the unit (fig. 6). Left loud-
speaker: connect the wire marked with a colour
or rib to terminal © L, the unmarked wire to ter-
minal
L ©. Right loudspeaker:
connect
the
marked wire to terminal R ©, the unmarked wire
to terminal © R.
F Mains lead
Fitting a mains plug (U.K. only)
The wires in the mains lead are coloured:
Blue - Neutral; Brown - Live.
As these colours may not correspond with the
colour markings identifying the terminals in your
plug, proceed as follows:
¢ Connect the brown wire to the terminal which is
marked with the letter 'L' or coloured Red.
¢ Connect the blue wire to the terminal which is
marked with the letter 'N' or coloured Black.
No connection should be made to the earth termi-
nal of the plug!
For 13 A plugs, conforming to BS1363, use
a3 A
fuse. For other plugs, use a 5 A or lower fuse in
the plug, adaptor or at the distribution board.
POSITIONING THE UNIT AND LOUDSPEAKER
ENCLOSURES
e There should be a space of several centimetres
left around the unit for ventilation. Make sure
°
that the ventilation openings are kept clear.

e Determine the best loudspeaker position by ex-
perimenting. Bass reproduction is amplified by
placing the enclosures on the floor or in a cor-
ner. Placing the enclosures behind furniture or
curtains has an unfavorable effect on treble re-
production.
Try to keep the arrangement
as
symmetrical as possible, preferably at the same
height.
SETTING THE CLOCK
The unit has a 24-hour clock. When
setting the
clock, the unit should not be switched on.
¢ Insert the mains plug in the wall socket.
— After several seconds 00:00 starts to flash on
the display.
e Press ADJUST.
- Only 00: flashes.
e Using the digit buttons 1-0 enter the correct
time.
— This starts to flash.
e Press ADJUST again.
— Now :00 flashes.
¢ Using the digit buttons 1-0 enter the minutes.
— The number entered starts to flash.
e Press ADJUST again.
~ Flashing stops to indicate that the clock is set.
CONTROLS
ON THE UNIT (fig. 1)
1 POWER STANDBY
To switch the unit off.
2 PHONES
Connection for headphones (impedance 8-1000
ohms).
3 TIMER panel
— ADJUST: to set the timer:
— PROGRAM: to store switching times and func-
tions;
— REPEAT: to repeat switching times;
- CANCEL:
to erase commands
entered incor-
rectly;
— RECORD: to record preset stations automatically.

To receive the signals from the remote control.
5 MONO STEREO
To reduce noise with weak stereo transmitters.
6v TUNING aA
To tune to radio stations:
— V : lower frequencies;
— A: higher frequencies.
7 Digit buttons 1-0
To enter times and tracks.
When
selecting preset stations and another
track during playback of a CD and when enter-
ing the playing time of a cassette, the second
digit of a number should be entered within 1
second.
8 GRAPHIC EQUALIZER
To set the tone colour:
— 500Hz: bass;
— 4kHz: mid range;
— 16kHz: treble.
