Changing a program
(Only possible if the CD is not playing!)
¢ Press >>/P 1 or i<d/<4<4 until the program num-
ber under which you want to store another track
appears.
e Enter the new track number.
e Press MEMORY.
Erasing a track number from a program
(Only possible if the CD is not playing!)
e Press CANCEL.
—- The last track number stored is erased and goes
out on the number indicator 1-20.
Playing a program
¢ Press PAL
~ Play starts with the first track of the program.
— When all tracks have been played, the display
shows
the number of tracks and the playing
time of the program.
Erasing a program
A program is erased if you:
— press Mi when the CD is not playing;
- open the CD tray;
— switch over to another sound source;
— switch the unit off.
CASSETTE DECKS
GENERAL
~- Recording is only possible with DECK 2.
-~ Recording is permissible insofar as copyright is
not infringed.
~ The tape in the cassette is secured at both ends
with leader tape. Thus at the beginning and end
of the cassette nothing will be recorded for 5 to
6 seconds.
— For recording use preferably cassettes of IEC
type I and IEC type I. The unit adjusts automati-
cally to the type used.
-— The recording volume is set automatically, inde-
pendent of the position of VOLUME.
- Each recording erases automatically any previ-
ous recording. Accidental erasure can be pre-
vented by breaking the small tab on the left on
the back of the cassette (fig. 8). This protection
can be reversed with a piece of adhesive tape.
— Store the cassettes at room temperature and do
not put them too close to the unit, loudspeakers
ora TV.
DOLBY NOISE REDUCTION (NR) SYSTEM
~ The Dolby NR system is manufactured under li-
cence from Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corpo-
ration. The word 'Dolby' and the O0 symbol are
trademarks of Dolby Laboratories Licensing Cor-
poration.
~ The Dolby NR system is switched on and off
with the Dolby NR switch. A cassette recorded
with the Dolby NR system must also be played
back in the Dolby NR mode, otherwise the tre-
ble may be reproduced too strongly.

-— The Dolby NR switch has no influence during
dubbing of cassettes. However, a cassette origi-
nally recorded with Dolby NR automatically pro-
duces a copy with Dolby NR.
TAPE CYCLE SWITCH
This switch enables you to choose from the fol-
lowing possibilities:
— <=: recording or playback of one side of the
cassette in the normal or reverse direction. The
tape stops at the end. Insert the cassette with
the full spool on the left or right.
— C:
recording or playback of both sides of the
cassette; first in the normal direction and then in
the reverse direction. The tape then stops. Al-
ways insert the cassette with the full spool on
the left; otherwise the tape stops after one side
is completed.
- C.D : continuous playback of one or two cas-
settes. Insert the cassette with the full spool on
the left or right.
INSERTING THE CASSETTE
e Press OPEN/CLOSE on DECK 1 or DECK 2.
— The cassette compartment opens.
e Insert the cassette in the compartment with the
open side downwards (fig. 9) and the full spool
on the left or right, depending on the direction
of play required.
e Close

SELECTING THE DIRECTION OF PLAY
e Start the tape with > if the full spool is on the
left.
e Start the tape with < if the full spool is on the
right.

To record with the Dolby NR system set DOLBY
NR to ON.
Press REC/PAUSE on the unit or RECORD
on
the remote control.
- The LED above REC/PAUSE lights up and the
LEDs above the start buttons > and <4 flash.
Press > or 4to start the recording.
~ The LED above the button selected lights up.
— When changing the direction of play, the LED
above the other start button lights up.
— The tape stops at the end of the cycle. All LEDs
go out.
e For short interruptions
press
REC/PAUSE
or
RECORD. To continue recording, press the start
button with the flashing LED.
e Press Mif you want to stop the recording before
the end of the cycle.
