TOSHIBA Industrial Magnetron E3327
5. Radiation leakage
Care should be taken for radiation leaked from the magnetron,
though the leakage from the input part of magnetron is suppressed to
a level which human body is not adversely affected.
(1) Properly install and tightly fasten the magnetron in the oven or in
the waveguide coupler.
(2) Do not deform the gasket or do not operate the magnetron with
the gasket removed, to avoid hazardous conditions such as
radiation leakage and arcing.
(3) Never operate the magnetron without installing it in the oven or
with the output antenna exposed.
(4) Do not remove the lid of the filter box nor deform the filter box.
(5) Always keep your eyes apart from the operating magnetron in
consideration of the unexpected hazardous conditions.
6. Temperature
Although the magnetron is subjected to water cooling and forced air
cooling during operation, high temperature (sometimes more than
200 ℃) is observed on the enclosure of magnetron. Care should be
taken as follows.
(1) Do not touch the magnetron immediately after turning power off.
Allow the magnetron to cool before handing.
(2) Putting on cotton gloves or the equivalent is recommended for
safe handling.
(3) In magnetron, the anode temperature may become extremely high
due to unusual oscillation block the input to (moding, etc.) or
failure of the cooling system. Therefore, please establish a
mechanism to the magnetron so that the anode temperature does
not exceeds the maximum rating.
note) Information in this document is subject to change without notice.
7. Magnet
This magnetron has both the permanent magnet and electromagnet.
This permanent field is over 0.15T(1500 gauss). Care should be taken
as follows.
(1) Do not put the magnetic material near the magnetron, in order to
avoid the injury caused by the collision of the magnetic material to
the magnetron.
(2) It is not recommended that a person who uses a pacemaker
handles the magnetron, because the magnetic field leakage from
the magnetron may affect the function of it.
(3) If the storage location is below -30 ° C, the magnetic force of the
magnet will decrease (hereinafter referred to as permanent
demagnetization of magnets). Permanent demagnetization of
magnets is irreversible, and the magnetic force does not return to
its original value even at room temperature, which affects the
electrical characteristics of the magnetron.
8. Cable connector
(1) Conditions for input cable connectors to the fasten tabs of the tube
input feed through capacitor AMP #250 receptacle should be used
as the input cable connectors. If the receptacle becomes loose,
electric connection between fasten tab and receptacle becomes
imperfect. This generates heat on the surface of fasten tab, which
may cause the decrease of the tube filament current or the
breakdown of the input feed through capacitor. Next conditions
are needed for the warranty.
・Use new input cable connectors (receptacles) when new tube is
installed to the socket as maintenance.
・ Store and use the tube in dry atmosphere.
(2) A large current flows through the filament of the magnetron.
Therefore, if there is a poor contact etc., a large voltage drop will
occur, causing failure. Be sure to attach the wiring to the capacitor
terminal. Also, wire the capacitor terminals so that excessive force
is not applied.
