9. Slide the PROM holder in the direction of the arrow. Pull up to
remove. See Figure 6-4, Removing PROM Holder.
10. Lift the PROM off of the board.
11. Place new PROM in the same position as the original PROM.
Make sure that the notched edge of the PROM faces the outside
edge of the circuit board. See Figure 6-4, Proper Alignment of
the PROM.
12. Replace the PROM holder by placing it over the PROM, then
slide it toward the inside of the circuit board.
13. Place the two circuit boards together in their original configura-
tion.
14. Slide the circuit boards back into the shield casing. There are
guides on the sides of the shield casing to aid sliding the circuit
boards back into place. When the circuit boards are properly
positioned, the circuit boards sit on top of the metal flanges on
the back of the shield casing. See Figure 6-5, Proper
Replacement of the Circuit Boards.
15. Reconnect the back set of wires. If you are having difficulty fit-
ting the pin casing in the slot, slide the circuit board 1/4 of an
inch toward the front of the shield casing.
CAUTION: When replacing the wires do not push too hard on
the plastic pin casings; you can crack the pin casing or bend
the pins.
16. Replace the two screws on the back of the shield casing.
17. Replace the front three sets of wires.
18. Resecure the wires so that there is no slack. Also make sure
that the wires do not hang off the shield casing.
CAUTION: Make sure all wires are secure. If the wires are
slack and hang outside the shield casing, the disc transporter
can catch the wires and pull them out.
19. Place the reader back into the DRM-5004X as in Chapter 4,
Custom Configuration.
20. Re-connect the power supply for the drive. See Section 4.2.6.
