2.2 Features of the Pioneer DR-D504X CD-ROM Reader
The Pioneer DR-D504X CD-ROM Reader is designed for installation
into the DRM-5004X CD-ROM Jukebox. The 4X speed of the spindle
motor of the reader allows for high speed data transfer.

• The DR-D504X reads discs that conform to all popular
CD-ROM standards including the CD-ROM Yellow Book,
CD-DA Red Book and CD-ROM XA standards.
• The reader has a SCSI connector and can be daisy-chained to
other SCSI devices installed in the DRM-5004X or it can be
connected on an independent SCSI bus, separate from the
jukebox.
• The DR-D504X has a high speed data transfer rate of 614
KBytes/sec. at 4X rotational speed.
• The DR-D504X has a look ahead buffer of 128 KBytes.
• Stereo output is supported with this drive unit. It can be inter-
nally connected to the audio output pin-jacks (L,R) attached on
the connector board of the jukebox.
2.2.1 DR-D504X Reader Configuration
The basic configuration of the DRM-5004X Jukebox often includes
two DR-D504X Readers. It can be custom configured, however, to hold
from one to four drive units. The drive units may be any combination
of the DR-D504X Reader and the DR-R504X Writer. The drives can be
installed into any of the four drive bays.

NOTE: CD-ROM readers must be configured specifically for installa-
tion into either the left or the right drive bay of the DRM-5004X. Also,
the DR-D504X is configured for 2048-byte sector size. It can be set to
512-byte sector size. For details see Chapter 4, Custom
Configuration .
