Part 4 - Installing Microsoft Windows NT and NetRAID
Software
After you have configured the HP NetRAID Adapter, you are ready to install Microsoft Windows NT Server,
Enterprise Edition. Prior to Windows NT installation you will use the HP EISA Configuration Utility to
configure the hardware for use with the network operating system.
NOTE

If not already done, insert the HP NetServer Navigator CD in the CD-ROM drive of System B and
restart the server.
The server boots from the HP NetServer Navigator CD and displays the Navigator Main menu.
NOTE
2.
From the HP Navigator Main Menu, choose Configuration Assistant, and select Custom.
Select Microsoft as your NOS and NT 4.0 as the version.
3.
Choose EISA Configuration Utility.
4.
Select Step 3 - View or Edit Details and:
check that MP Spec Version is set to V1.4. If not, set it to V1.4.
disable the On-board IDE Hard Disk Controller by scrolling to On-board IDE Hard Disk
Controller, pressing Enter, and choosing Disable.
The embedded IDE controller is not used on HP NetServer systems.

Save and exit the EISA Configuration Utility.
The utility saves your configuration data, restarts the server and reloads the HP NetServer Navigator
CD.

Configuration Assistant creates the Utility Partition, and copies over the appropriate files. Leave the HP
NetServer Navigator CD in the drive.
When finished, the system reboots. After rebooting, the system displays the Navigator Main menu.

From the Navigator Main menu, choose NetServer Utilities, then Diagnostic
Assistant.

8.
From the Diagnostic Assistant Main menu, choose Quick Tests.
Diagnostic Assistant runs a sequence of tests to determine if your hardware is performing properly.
The procedures in this part must be performed on both Systems A and B. You will start
with System B and then repeat the procedure on System A.
If you are prompted that your server BIOS is an older version; stop and update your
