NOTE:This unitis shippedwithoutgasolineor oil in the engine.Be
certainto serviceenginewith gasolineand oil as instructedin the
Operationsectionof this manualbeforeoperatingyourmachine.
NOTE:Referenceto rightand left hand sideof the Tilleris observed
fromthe operatingposition.
OPENING
CARTON
1.
Removethe staples,breakthe glue on the top flaps,or cut the
tapeat the end of the cartonand peel it alongthe top flapto open.
2.
Removeall looseparts.
3.
Cut the cornersand laythe cartondown fiat.
4.
Removeloosepackingmaterial.
REMOVING
UNIT FROM CARTON
1.
Use the handlebracketto lift and pull the tillerbackwardsto a flat
area.Checkthecarton thoroughlyfor looseparts.
2.
Extendthe controlcableand lay it on thefloor. Be cardul not to
bendor kink the controlcable.

Beforeassembly, d isconnectthe sparkplug wireand groundit
againstthe engineto preventunintendedstarting.
ATTACHING
THE DEPTH STAKE

Tipthe tiller forwardso that it restson thefront counterweight.
Unthreadthe T -knobfrom the topof the depth stakeand remove
theflat washerand hexscrew.Removethe cotter pin fromthe
clevispin.See Figure1.

Raisethefine shieldhinge flapassemblyand insertthe depth
stakeassemblyin the slot, underthe fineshieldand up through
the tine shieldassembly.
4.
Insertthe clevispin throughthe fineshieldand depthstake
assemblies.Secureit with the cotterpin.
5.
Insertthe hex bolt intothe top holeof the depthstakeassembly.
Placethe flat washeron the hex boltand threadthe T-knobonto
the hex bolt.Tightensecurely.See Figure1.
6.
Tip the tiller backdownso that it restson the tines.

Locatethe upper handleassemblyand handletube assembly.
2.
Usingtwo hexscrewsand flangelock nuts securethe handle
tube assemblyto the upperhandleassembly.See Figure2.

ATTACHING
THE HANDLE ASSEMBLY
Removethe top hexscrew,handleadjustmentcrank,flangelock
nuts and nut retainerbracketfromthe handle mountingbrackets,
but do not removethe bottomhex screwand flange lock nut. See
Figure3.
