Pushthe chokeleverto the CHOKEIJl position.If the engineis
warm,placethechoke in the RUNI JtI positioninsteadof CHOKE

3.
Movethe chokeleveron theengineto CHOKEIJl position.(A

Standingon theside of the unit, graspthe recoilstarterhandle
and pull ropeout untilyou feela drag.
6.
Pull the ropewith a rapid,continuous, f ull arm stroke.Keepa firm
grip on the starterhandle.Letthe roperewindslowly.
7.
Repeat,if necessary,untilengine starts.Whenenginestarts,
movechokecontrol graduallytowardthe RUNI _tI position..
8.
If enginefalters,movechokecontrolbacktowardthe CHOKE IJl
positionand repeatsteps5 though8.
9.
ALWAYS keepthe throttlecontrol in the START/RUN (Rabbit)'_
positionwhenoperatingthetiller.
TO STOP ENGINE
1.
To stopthe wheelsand tines, releasethe ClutchLever.
2.
Movethrottlecontrolleverto slow(turtle) _
position.Whenever
possible,graduallyreduceenginespeedbeforestoppingengine.
3.
Movethrottlecontrolleverto STOP_
position.
4.
Disconnectsparkplug wireand ground itagainst t heengineto
preventaccidentalstartingwhilethe equipmentisunattended.
TO ENGAGE
DRIVE & TINES
Donot pushdownon the handlebarsto try to makethe tiller till more
deeply.This takesweight off the wheels,which allowthe tinesto
rapidlypropelthe tiller,which couldresult in loss of control,property
damage,or personalinjury.
1.
PlacetheShift Leverin thedesiredforwardtillingpositionand press
the ClutchLeverdownagainstthe handleto begintilling.
2.
Whentilling,letthewheelspullthemachine whilethetinesdig.
Walkslowlybehindthetillerallowing it to move at its ownpacewhile
keepinga securegripon thehandlebar w ithyourelbowsflexed.
3.
Releasethe ClutchLeverto stop the wheelsand tines.
To move in reverse:
(Do not till in reverse)
1.
Releasethe ClutchLever.Thenlift the handlebaruntilthe tines
are off the ground.
2.
Placethe Shift Leverin the reversepositionand thenpressthe
ClutchLeverdown againstthe handlebarand walk backwards
with the machine.
NOTE: In reversemode,the tineswill not rotate.
TURNING
THE TILLER
Manually
1.
Practiceturningthe tillerin a level,open area.Be very carefulto
keepyourfeet and legsawayfrom the tines.
2.
To begina turn, lift the handlebarsuntilthe tinesare out of the
groundand the engineand tines are balancedoverthe wheels.
3.
With the tiller balanced,pushsidewayson the handlebarto steer
in the directionof the turn. After turning,slowlylowerthe tines into
the soil to resumetilling.
Using
the Swing
Lever
The tiller handlecan be swivelledin eitherdirection.The SwingLever
enablesthetiller to be guided sideways to the next row.See FigureX.
1.
Pull up on the SwingLeverto releasethe handle.
2.
Swivelthe handleinto thedesiredposition.
3.
Releasethe SwingLeverto securethe handlein place.
