Using the Surround Modes

In a movie theator, many speakers are located on tbe walls to
repr,_uce impressive rim]d-surround sounds, reaching you from all
disect_ons,
With tbese many speakers, sound ]ocalizadon and sound movement
can be expressed.
Strm_und modes built in ffds receiver can create almost the same
st.-round sounds as you can feel in a real movie theater--with only
five to seven speakers (plus subw_fer).

Dolby Digital *_
Dolby Digital is a digital signal compression method, developed
by Dtilby Labovatc_ries, and enables multi ch_mnel enc_ing and
decoding (l ch up m 5,1ch).
- When k_lby Digital sigmfl is detected t_rough tbe digital input,
tbe _ indicator lights up on the di@ay.
DolbvDipital 5,1CR
D_by Digital 5.1CH (DOLB Y D) enco_ng method records and
digitally compsesses the left front channel, right front channel,
center channel, luA strrmund channel, right strrmund channel, and
LP:E channel signals (tot&l 6 channels, but the LI_ channel is
counted ws O,I channel l'berefc_e, called 5,1 channel).
Dolby Digital enables stereo s_ound sounds, and sets the cutaff
frequency of the strrround treble at 20 kHz, compared to 7 kHz for
Dolby Pro Logic. As such, the sound movement and "being-tbere"
feeling are enhanced much m_re than Dolby Pro Logic.
Dolbz/Digital EX
D_by _gital _ (DOLBY D EX) is a _gital surround enc_mg
format that adds the third strrround channels, called "surround
back?'
Compared m the conventional Dolby Digital 5,1CH, these newly
added strrmund back channels can reprodt_ce m_re detailed
movements behind you while viewing the video soAware, in
adff_tion, surround sound localization wiII become more stable.
- You can use Virtual 6.1 -channel strrmund when Naying back
Dolby Digital EX sofm'are without connecting the surround
back speakers. This strrgound realIoeates the strrreund back
channel m the surround speakers so that you can still feel the
great stm'ound effect fgom behind.

Dolby Strrreund encoding format records the left front channel,
right front channel, cente_ channel, and surround ch_mnel
(monatrral) signals into 2 channels.

decodes these 2 channel signals into 4 _rigin al channel signals
(plus subwoofof_-matrix_based multi-channel r_r._uct_on.
