Problem
I hear no sound, or the
volume is too low in
Media Center.

Solution
The Windows Media Player and Windows XP
Media Center share certain audio device control
settings. If volume settings in Media Center do not
meet your expectations, check the following:
■ Open Windows Media Player application and
verify that the volume settings are not muted
or turned down too low.
■ Verify that the Windows system volume control
settings are not muted or turned down too low:
❐ Double-click the volume control icon in the
Windows notification area, at the right of the
taskbar.
– or –
❐ Select Start > Control Panel > Sounds,
Speech, and Audio Devices > Sounds
and Audio Devices.
