PART 9 – START-UP PREPARATION
Thoroughly clean and flush any system that has used glycol before installing the heater. Provide the
customer with a material safety data sheet (MSDS) on the fluid used.
1. Connect the heater pump to the
terminals labeled 1, 2, and 3. If you are
using an indirect fired water tank
connected directly to the follower heater
connect the pump for it to the 4, 5, and 6
terminals.
2. An alarm bell or light can be connected
to the alarm contacts of the follower
heater. In the event of an alarm, the
normally open alarm contact may be used
to turn a device on. The normally closed
alarm contact may be used to turn a
device off if the heater goes into lockout
mode. The alarm contacts are rated 5
amps at 120 VAC.
3. To connect an alarm device that will
use the normally open contact, connect
the power for the device to terminal 8.
Connect the alarm device hot wire to
terminal 9. Connect the neutral or return
of the alarm device to the neutral or return
of the power for the alarm device.
4. To connect a device that should be
powered off during a heater lockout
condition, follow the same instructions as
above except use terminal 7 rather than
terminal 9.
NOTE: In a cascade system the alarm
output of the heater addressed as #1 will
also be active if the master heater has a
lockout condition. The alarm output of
heaters addressed as 2-7 will only
activate an alarm if a lockout condition
occurs on that specific heater.
