Pick
up
the magnet cap slowly and
evenly
(i t
is
highly magnetized).

If
the
carbon
brushes
are
installed,
remove
the
screws
A and
B
(see
Figure
4-14)
that
hold
the
motor flange,
loosen screw C, and move the flange
toward the front of the disk drive to take pressure
off of the carbon brushes.
e.
Remove
the spindle screw
(left-handed
thread)
and
lift the armature up to remove it.

Spindle Assembly Removal
Use the following procedure to remove the spindle assembly.
a.
Remove the armature.
b.
Remove the optical tachometer sensor.
c.
Turn the spindle until the two holes in the spindle
line
up
with
the
screws
that
fasten
the
spindle
assembly to the base frame.
d.
Remove the two screws (see Figure 4-15) and lift the
spindle assembly out of the base frame.
