Controls

Mow Pedal
Depressing the mow pedal (Figure 12) fully during
operation lowers the cutting units and starts the reels.
The mow pedal will stay depressed due to the detent
action of the valve bank during operation. The operator
does not need to hold the pedal down.
Brake Pedal
The brake pedal (Figure 12) actuates an automotive
drum-type mechanical brake at each traction wheel.
Lift Pedal
Depressing the lift pedal (Figure 12) during operation
stops the reels from turning and lifts the cutting units.
The lift pedal must be fully depressed until the cutting
units are fully raised and have stopped rotating.

Parking Brake Button
Pressing the brake pedal to actuate the brake assembly,
then pressing the small button indicated (Figure 12) will
keep the brakes actuated for parking. Disengage it by
pressing the brake pedal. Form the habit of locking the
parking brake before you leave the machine.
Traction and Stopping Pedal
The traction pedal (Figure 12) has three functions: to
make the machine move forward, to move it backward,
and to stop the machine. Press the top of the pedal to
move forward and the bottom of the pedal to move

backward or to assist in stopping when moving forward.
Also, allow the pedal to move to the neutral position to
stop the machine. For operator comfort, do not rest the
heel of your foot on reverse when operating forward
(Figure 13).
Throttle Control
The throttle control (Figure 14) gives the operator the
ability to control the speed of the engine. Moving the
throttle control toward the Fast position increases the
engine RPM; moving the throttle control toward Slow
will decrease the engine RPM.
Note: The engine cannot be stopped by the use of the
throttle control.

Choke
To start a cold engine, close the carburetor choke by
moving the choke control (Figure 14) forward to the
Closed position. After the engine starts, regulate the
choke to keep the engine running smoothly. As soon
as possible, open the choke by pulling it rearward to
