6. Turn the ignition key to the Start position (Figure 12).
When the engine starts, release the key.
Important: Do not crank the engine continuously
for more than 10 seconds at a time. If the engine
does not start, allow a 60 second cool-down period
between starting attempts. Failure to follow these
guidelines can burn out the starter motor.
Note: Additional starting cycles may be required
when starting the engine for the first time after the fuel
system has been without fuel completely.
7. If the choke is in the closed/on position, gradually
return choke to the open/off position as the engine
warms up.

Stopping the Engine

CAUTION
Children or bystanders may be injured if they
move or attempt to operate the machine while it is
unattended.
Always remove the ignition key and set the parking
brake when leaving the machine unattended, even
if just for a few minutes.
Important: Make sure that the fuel shut off valve is
closed before transporting or storing the machine, as
fuel leakage may occur. Set the parking brake before
transporting. Make sure to remove the key as the fuel
pump may run and cause the battery to lose charge.
1. Disengage the PTO.
2. Move speed control lever to the neutral position.
3. Engage the parking brake.
4. Place the throttle to the middle position.
5. Allow the engine to run for a minimum of 15 seconds,
then turn the ignition switch to the Off position to
stop the engine.
6. Remove the key to prevent children or other
unauthorized persons from starting engine.
