Functional overview

2.1

Features

This section provides information on the features and technical data of the
PRIMERGY CX400 M4 server enclosure. For information on key characteristics
and layout of the system board, see the "FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY
CX400 M4 Server Enclosure Upgrade and Maintenance Manual".
Server enclosure
The PRIMERGY CX400 M4 server enclosure consists of the server enclosure
which has to be equipped with different configurations of server nodes, as there
are:
– 4 PRIMERGY CX2550 M4 / CX2560 M4 server nodes
– 2 PRIMERGY CX2570 M4 server nodes
All server nodes are hot pluggable. A mixture of CX2550 M4 and CX2560 M4 /
CX2570 M4 nodes within the same server enclosure is not supported.
HDDs
Using CX2550 M4 server nodes, the server enclosure can be equipped with a
maximum of 8 x 2.5 " HDD / SSD modules.
Using CX2560 M4 server nodes, the server enclosure can be equipped with a
maximum of 24x 2.5 " HDD / SSD modules.
Using CX2570 M4 server nodes, the server enclosure can be equipped with a
maximum of 12x 2.5 " HDD / SSD modules.
Each HDD/SSD module can accommodate an SAS/SATA HDD or SSD with a
maximum height of 1 inch. The module is connected to the SAS/SATA
backplane wirelessly. This allows HDD / SSD modules to be plugged in or pulled
out easily.
Six SATA HDD/SSDs can be controlled by the onboard SATA controller. To
control further SAS/SATA HDD/SSDs, an additional SAS/RAID controller must
be installed.
Hybrid configurations of SAS HDDs, SATA HDDs, SAS SSDs and SATA SSDs
within the same logical drive (RAID array) are not supported.
