Pair Resynchronization and Releasing

5-10
Hitachi AMS 2000 Family Copy-on-Write SnapShot User Guide
In the resynchronization processing and the deletion processing, the
processing to release the data stored in the data pool is executed
even after the pair status is changed. This processing repeats the
short-time release processing and the suspension.
In the time zone where the host I/O load is low and the processer
use rate of the array is low, the processer spends a lot of time for the
release processing. Meanwhile, the processor use rate becomes
temporarily high, but the effect on the host I/O is limited. Therefore,
perform the resynchronization and the deletion in the time zone
where the host I/O load is low.
If the resynchronization and the deletion have to be executed in the
time zone where the host I/O load is high , make the number of pairs
to be resynchronized and deleted at one time small. At the same
time, check the load to the array by the processor use rate and the
I/O response time and perform the resynchronization and the
deletion at intervals as much as possible.
