Connection Types

PCPro supports 3 types of connections to a KTS. These are explained
below:
Direct
H
A Direct Connection can be made via an available serial port on a PC.
Specify the PCs serial port and its transfer rate (bps). This speed must
match the KSU baud rate setting assigned in 10-21-02.
Modem
H
A Modem Connection can be made from an existing modem
connected to the PC. Specify the modem to use and the number to
dial.
IP
H
An IP Connection can be made via a LAN or the Internet. The IP
address specified must match the KTS setting 10-12-01.

Specify the User Name and Password that will allow the connection. The
account must exist within the KTS settings 90-02. Like PCPro Accounts,
Login Accounts govern what system data can be accessed from the
KTS.
It is important to note, Login Accounts are the same as PCPro Accounts.
Thus both KTS Login and PCPro Account settings are NOT
synchronized and are independent of each other.
Once connected, the PCPro access level will change to match the level
assigned to the user name/password used to connect. This access level
is set in 90-02 on the KTS. For example, if a user starts PCPro in
Installer (IN) mode, but connects to a KTS using an account with an
access level of System Administrator Level 1 (SA), after connecting
PCPro will assume the access level of SA. Once the user disconnects,
PCPro will revert back to the access level IN.
