LISTENING TO TAPES
Deck1 isforplayback only;deck2 isforboth playback and
recording.
1. Pressthe EJECT button to open the cassette holder.
2. Load the cassette(s).
To load, place the tape with its exposed end at the
bottom. After the tape has been loaded, push the
cassette holder back into position.
3. Set the DOLBY NR switch to ON or OFF according to
whetherthe tape has been recorded withthe Dolby NR
system or not.
4. Press the b or 4 switch on either deck to begin
playback. The
or 4 indicator lights.
5. Pressthe
switch to stop playback at any time.
When the end ofthe tape has been reached, automatic
stop or reverse will be activated.
Typea of usable tapes
The type
of tape used is automatically identified by the
system since decks 1 and 2 both employ an auto tape
selectionsystem.The followingtypes oftape can be used
withthis system.
Normal
cro2
Metal
Note:
Metal and Cr02tapes without sensing holes cannot be
used since they cannot be identified by the auto selec-
tor.
- Endless tapes cannot be used.
Do not use C-120 tapes. They may jam in the mecha-
nism.
Auto reverse
In both decks 1 and 2, tapes can be played back in the
following3 ways using the MODE switch.

For listeningto one side of the tape only.

For listeningto both sides of the tape in succession.
If playback has been started from the reverse side,
only the reverse side will be played back.

For listening repeatedly
to both sides of the tape.
Automatic Music Select System (AMSS)
Press the ~
or 44 switch during playback in either
deck 1 or deck 2. The deck will enter the fast forward (or
rewind) mode to skipto the beginning ofthe nextselection
(or the current selection), then return to the play mode.
(While the tape is winding, the F or<
indicator blinks.)

The start of the selection currently playing is found.

Note
Unrecorded blanks lasting at least
4
seconds are re-
quired for proper AMSS operation.
Ifthe systemisbeing used nearalV, theAMSS may not
function properly due to the effect of the signals frorr
the TV. Ifthis isthe case, either switch offthe TV, or use-
the system at the distance from the TV.
Fast forward and rewind
1.
Press the

Relay playback (continuous playback
on decks 1 and 2)
1. Load the cassettes into both decks 1 and 2.

Press the b or < switch of deck 1 or 2.
Relay playback willcontinue from deck 1 (or 2) to deck
2 (or 1) untilthe 9 switch of the deck playing back the
tape is pressed.
