Configuring local users

NOTE:
The firewall supports configuring local users only in the web interface.

Local user overview

Local users are a set of user accounts configured on the firewall. A local user is uniquely identified by
username. To enable users using a certain network service to pass local authentication, you must add
corresponding entries to the local user database on the firewall.
The attributes of a local user include the username, user password, user privilege level, and the service
type that the user can use.

User levels

User levels, in order from low to high, are visitor, monitor, configure, and management.
Visitor: Users of this level can only perform ping and traceroute operations. They can neither access
the data on the Firewall nor configure the Firweall.
Monitor: Users of this level can perform ping and traceroute operations and access the data on the
Firewall but cannot configure the Firewall.
Configure: Users of this level can perform ping and traceroute operations, access data on the
Firewall, and configure the Firewall, but they cannot upgrade the host software,
add/delete/modify users, or back up/restore the configuration file.
Management: Users of this level can perform any operations on the Firewall.
