2.4 Connecting the field bus to the active field distributors AFD4 / AFD4 (FM) / AFD8
Preparing the bus cable
1. Remove the cable gland from the field distributor with the ring wrench.
2. Slide the clamping screw and the inside part of the gland with the sealing ring onto the
unprepared cable.
3. Strip the cable as shown in the figure.

Connecting the bus cable
1. Open the field distributor: Remove the 4 screws of the enclosure cover with a Phillips
screwdriver.
2. Guide the bus cables of the pin assignment through the cable glands.
3. For direct grounding, run the braided shielding of the bus cable under the shielding
clamps.
4. Connect the wires to the terminal block. Ensure that the wires have the correct polarity.
Torque 0.35 Nm.
5. Tighten the screw caps of the cable glands with a torque of 1.3 Nm.
6. Close the field distributor: Place the enclosure cover on the enclosure base and tighten
the four screws on the enclosure cover. Torque 2.4 Nm.
Sealing unused cable glands
NOTICE
Impairment of the degree of protection
Close unused cable glands with sealing plugs, order number 6ES7157-0AG80-1XA1. This
is the only way to ensure degree of protection IP66.

The degree of protection may be impaired if you tighten the screw caps too tight or not
enough.
