Connecting
5.1 Gas connections
Minimum requirements
In principle, any Ex py or Ex px safety equipment with a type examination certificate to ATEX
can be used.
This safety equipment must have at least the following features:
● Safety level for monitoring:
– During pre-purging: At least to Category 3 from EN ISO 13849-1
– During operation: At least to Category 1 from EN ISO 13849-1
– or to other comparable international standards.
● Adjustable pre-purging phase: Purging gas flow must be at ≥ 60 l/min
● Limitation of purging gas pressure during the pre-purging phase: < 100 hPa
● Connection of purging gas lines: 10 mm or 3/8" diameter from/to analyzer
● Inlet pressure for purging gas supply: 0.2 ... 0.4 MPa
● Relay contacts for all-pole isolation of the analyzer's power supply (inrush current >50 A)
● Relay contacts for disconnecting additional equipment (e.g. Ex isolating relay)
● Access protection against unauthorized persons
Suitable Ex py safety equipment is shown in the section "Ex py safety equipment
(Page 101)" using a pressurized enclosure system of the company Gönnheimer Elektronik
GmbH as an example.
5.1.6
Connecting gas
Procedure
1. OXYMAT 7: When introducing combustible and/or occasionally explosive media, install
suitable flame arresters in the sample gas and reference gas paths directly at the device.
ULTRAMAT 7 / CALOMAT 7: The installation of flame retarders is not required.
2. Connect the gas lines with the associated gas inlets and outlets using suitable clamp ring
screwed glands.
3. Check whether the clamp ring screwed glands are connected firmly and check the pipe
connections for leaks.
4. Observe the information in the following section.
