Improper laying of shielded cables
Danger of explosion through compensating currents between hazardous area and the non-
hazardous area.
• Only ground shielded cables that run into the hazardous area at one end.
• If grounding is required at both ends, use an equipotential bonding conductor.
Incorrect selection of type of protection
Danger of explosion in hazardous area.
This device is approved for several types of protection.
1. Decide in favor of one type of protection.
2. Connect the device in accordance with the selected type of protection.
3. To avoid incorrect use at a later point, make the types of protection that are not used

Operation of the device without protection can lead to injury and/or material damage and
environmental damage.
• Equip the device including electrical connections and front plate with suitable protection
Connecting/disconnecting signal cables
The following generally applies for devices in type of protection "non sparking":
• De-energize the device before plugging/removing signal cable plugs.
Any exceptions are noted in the corresponding certificate.
