8.1 Gas connections
Note
Unstable measured value display due to pressure surges
Pressure surges can result in unstable measured value displays when the sample gas flow is
superimposed by fast pressure fluctuations or a sample gas pump delivers sample gas into
the device. To protect the device from pressure surges, we recommend that:
• Install the supplied sample gas restrictors into the gas path.
• Use a pneumatic low-pass filter (restrictor and damping vessel), if necessary.

Installing/removing the sample gas restrictor

Requirements
Before you install/remove the sample gas restrictor, ensure that
● the sample gas line is disconnected from the device,
● you have read the section "Combination operation (Page 35)",
● a suitable slot screwdriver is at hand.
The difference between a sample gas restrictor and a clamping screw is:
– Sample gas restrictor: slotted screw; outlet diameter 0.5 mm
– Clamping screw: Cross-tip screw; outlet diameter 2 mm. For additional information,
Procedure
The installation, removal and retrofitting of clamping screws or sample gas restrictors is
limited to only a few module types. You will find more detailed information on the mounting
position and the mounting conditions in the section "Gas connections (Page 37)".
1. Install the sample gas restrictor or clamping screw:
Screw the sample gas restrictor or the clamping screw into the outlet. The tightening
torque is 1 Nm.
2. Connect the sample gas line again.
3. Remove the sample gas restrictor or clamping screw:
Proceed in reverse order.
