CAUTION: Any soot remaining in the Cylinder [74] may cause contact between Piston (M) [86]
and the Cylinder [74], resulting in a malfunction.
• Completely remove liquid packing (ThreeBond 1207C) on the contacting surfaces of the Crank Case
[96] and Cylinder [74]. At that time, be careful not to damage the contacting surfaces.
• Completely remove liquid packing (ThreeBond 1207C) on the contacting surfaces of the Cylinder [74],
Scavenging Cover (A) [84], and Scavenging Cover (B) [70]. At the time, be careful not to damage the
contacting surfaces.
• Before applying new liquid packing (ThreeBond 1207C) on the contacting surfaces of the Cylinder [74],
Scavenging Cover (A) [84], and Scavenging Cover (B) [70], completely degrease the contacting
surfaces.
• Before mounting the Crank Shaft [93], apply 0.2 to 0.6 gram of 2-cycle oil to the inside of the Cylinder
[74] and the periphery of Piston (M) [86].
• Before applying new liquid packing (ThreeBond 1207C) on the contacting surfaces of the Cylinder [74]
and Crank Case [96], completely degrease the contacting surfaces.

13. Disassembly and reassembly of the piston and piston ring
[Tools required]
• Long-nose pliers
• J-359 jig (No. 6695741) (piston pin extraction tool ass'y)
(1) Disassembly
Remove the Crank Worm Ass'y [89] from the Cylinder [74] before disassembly.
• Use long-nose pliers to remove the two Circlips
[85].
• Insert a hex. socket hd. bolt M5 x 12 into the
pushing side of the Piston Pin [88], and then turn
the pin pullout bolt of the J-359 jig (piston pin
extraction tool ass'y) clockwise to pull out the
Piston Pin [88].
CAUTION: Do not scratch Piston (M) [86].
• Remove the Piston Ring (XR1-1856) [87] from
Piston (M) [86] by widening the gap of the piston
ring so as not to damage the periphery of the
piston. (When the Piston Ring (XR1-1856) [87] is
firmly adhered, insert a gap gauge (T0.3)
between the Piston Ring (XR1-1856) [87] and
Piston (M) [86], and then remove the piston ring.)
