Replacement of lower gear shaft
Press the gear shad out of the bearing housing.
Check the condition of the ball bearings and replace if
necessary.
Place the gear shaft in the being housing and press
it into position, using a vice (Fig. 11:9).
Use a block of wood to protect the teeth and a suitable
sleeve on the inner ring of the ball bearing.
Make sure that the gear shad is pressed fully into the
being housing.
Mounting of lower bearing housing
Heat the gear housing with a blowlamp to about 1 30º C.
Clamp the gear housing in a vice.
Quickly press the bearing housing in in until abuts
against the shoulder in the gear housing.
Make sure that the teeth engage as intended.
Fit extractor No 502 50 63-01.
Heat the gear housing with a blowlamp to about 1 30º C.
Clamp the gear housing in a vice.
Quickly press the being housing in all the way.
Leave the puller in place until the gear housing has cool-
ed down to avoid all likelihood of dislodging the being
housing.
Unscrew the puller and secure the being housing by
means of the stop screw.
Check that the two gears mesh with each other and that the
play between the teeth is scarcely noticeable.
To ensure that the play between the gears is not too
small when the upper being housing is mounted, the
lower gear shad must abut against the bottom of the
being housing.
Mounting of blade guard
Fit the blade guard on the gear housing and tighten the
five screws.
