Should Access Easy Controller detect an alarm condition, the audible chime will sound to alert
the receptionist to the alarm. The receptionists can then restore the View Activity screen and
handle the alarm without disturbing any of the other work he/she was doing. When finished
with the alarm, the receptionist need only minimize the View Activity window and he/she will
be ready to continue working with the other application.
Question - I noticed that some of the Access Easy Controller graphic and text presentation are
slightly different when displayed on my associate's computer than they are on my computer.
Is this normal?
Answer - This is normal. Screen displays will vary slightly depending on which browser pro-
gram you run. Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer display certain HTML code
slightly different from one another.
Also, within either browser, there are some slight differences from one revision of the browser
to the next. The Access Easy Controller application will work satisfactory with any version of
Netscape Navigator from version 4.0 forward. Likewise, the controller will work equally well
with Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 4.0 and newer.
If you are using an older version of either browser, then we recommend that you upgrade to a
more current version.
Another item that can cause noticeable differences from one computer to the next is the
screen resolution setting. The Access Easy Controller pages have been designed to work best
with a screen resolution of 800 x 600 and a colour setting of 256 colours. These are the mini-
mum settings needed for satisfactory performance. Greater settings, such as 1024 x 768 res-
olution or 65,000 colours, will also deliver satisfactory performance.
Question - Can the Access Easy Controller's database be backed up off the controller, perhaps
to a diskette, in case the controller should suffer a massive failure of any type? I would hate
to have to manually re-enter the entire card database for our 500 employees. Also, if I can
back up the controller's database to a diskette, is there a way to restore the database back
into the controller?
Answer - Yes to both questions. The Access Easy Controller's database can easily be saved to
a computer, either on the hard disk or a diskette. To perform a database backup to a com-
puter, simply follow the instructions on the Database Backup screen.
Question - When I am monitoring the Access Easy Controller, I notice that the View Activity
screen only displays the ten most recent records. Is there any way to increase the number of
records displayed at one time on the View Activity screen?
Answer - Yes. The number of records to be displayed on the View Activity screen can be
increased by increments of 10 up to a maximum of 70.
Changing the value is easy. A person with administrative privileges will need to go to the con-
troller Setup screen. From there, click on the button labelled "Activity View Setting". On this
screen, use the pull-down list to select the umber of activities to be displayed at a time on the
View Activity screen. After selecting the desired value, click on the "save" button to store the
change.
