Opening Ports on Routers and Gateways

The firewall security features built into most routers and gateways may prevent users
from accessing the video and audio of their DVC-2000.
A router connects to the Internet through a series of numbered ports. The ports used by
the DVC-2000 are often blocked from access over the Internet by the firewall features of
the router.
You may be able to connect to another VideoPhone, but not receive any video or audio.
This is a typical scenario of a firewall blocking the ports needed by the DVC-2000 to
send audio and video.
If this is the case, you need to open the ports on your router to the Internet to allow
access to the DVC-2000.
The port numbers used by the DVC-2000 are:
1720
15328
15329
15330
15331
15332
15333
The router or gateway that you are using may be different from the D-Link
DI-614+ wireless router example shown on the following pages. However, the general
procedure for opening ports will be similar. (If you do not have a D-Link router, look for
Virtual Server , Firewall Rules , Port Forwarding, Advanced or Firewall in your router's
configuration utility.)
In the example that follows we begin by opening the DI-614+ Web configuration utility
and going to Advanced > Virtual Server .
Follow the steps on the following pages to open the ports on your router for successful
operation of the DVC-2000.
