Operation

Only transport the BEA 060 in an upright position. If
the BEA 060 is tilted during transportation, con-
densate may escape and damage the measurement
chamber. Select the installation location such that
the BEA 060 cannot fall down and is correctly posi-
tioned (carrying handle at top).
4.1

Power supply

The power supply is obtained from the lighting system.
The BEA 060 can be operated at between 100 V and
240 V, 50/60 Hz.

The BEA 060 can also be supplied with power by
way of the vehicle battery using the cigarette lighter
socket connecting cable (special accessory).
Refer to fig. 1, pos. 12 for connection.

Prior to start-up, make sure the lighting system volt-
age coincides with the set BEA 060 voltage. If the
BEA 060 is operated outdoors, it is advisable to use
a voltage source protected by a residual current-
operated circuit breaker. The unit is only to be oper-
ated in dry conditions.

To avoid the formation of condensation, allow the
BEA 060 to adjust to ambient temperature before
switching on the BEA 060.

The details of the power supply are given on
a sticker on the back of the BEA 060.
4.2

Switching unit on / off

4.2.1

Switch-on

1. Plug in the power cord at the BEA 060 and attach
the power cord at the holes (fig. 1, pos. 4) with
a cable tie to provide strain relief.
2. Connect the BEA 060 to the lighting system by way
of the power cord.
3. Press the On/Off button.

4.2.2

Switch-off

To keep contamination of the BEA 060 to a minimum,
it is advisable to flush residual gas out of the BEA 060
prior to switch-off with the pump running. The sampling
probe must be in the open air for this purpose.

First exit from the exhaust gas test step and wait for
completion of pump run-on. Then switch off the BEA 060.
Press the On/Off button for three seconds.

The LED (fig. 1, pos. 16) goes out, the BEA 060 is
switched off.

Start-up of BEA 060 in stand-alone
mode
The following description of installation of SystemSoft
BEA-PC and the AU vehicle data, as well as BEA 060
configuration, only apply to BEA 060 stand-alone mode.
4.3.1

Installing SystemSoft BEA-PC

Heed the system prerequisites before starting
installation.
i
Only plug in the Bluetooth USB adapter when
prompted to do so during software installation.
1. Close all open applications.
2. Insert the "SystemSoft BEA-PC" CD in the DVD drive.
3. Start "Windows Explorer".
4. Start 'D:\RBSETUP.EXE' (D = DVD drive letter).
 BEA set-up is started.
5. Confirm with <Continue>.
6. Heed and follow the instructions on the screen.
7. Re-start the PC/Laptop to successfully conclude
installation.

4.3.2

BEA 060 configuration

After installing the BEA software, the device interface
of the BEA 060 has to be set. The BEA 060 can be con-
nected by way of either the USB connecting cable or
Bluetooth to a PC/Laptop.
1. Select "Start >> All programs >> Bosch >>
Diagnostics >> Central Device Communication" or
click onto " " in the task bar with the left mouse key.
 CDC – Central Device Communication is opened.
2. Select "Settings >> Device interfaces".

Pressing <F1> opens the Online Help for a display of
the most important information on interface setting.
3. Configure the BEA 060 in the GAM Group
(USB or Bluetooth).
 BEA 060 is ready for operation.
4. Start SystemSoft BEA-PC.
