Changing the Transmission Oil

Service Interval: After the first 20 hours
Every 800 hours/Every 2 years (whichever comes first)
Important: Use only Supersyn 5W-40 synthetic engine
oil or equivalent engine oils. Other oils could cause
system damage.
1. Place a drain pan under the oil tank drain plug (Figure
20).
2. Remove the drain plug from the side of the tank
(Figure 20).
3. When all the oil has drained, install the drain plug.
4. Clean the area around the filter mounting area (Figure
21).

5. Place a drain pan under the filter and remove the filter.
6. Fill the replacement filter with the appropriate engine
oil, lubricate the sealing gasket, and hand turn it until
the gasket contacts the filter head. Then tighten the
filter 3/4 turn further.
Note: The filter should now be sealed.
7. Remove the oil tank cap (Figure 20).
8. Fill the oil tank with the proper oil.
9. Install the tank cap.
10. Start the machine and run it at idle for 3 to 5 minutes
to circulate the oil and remove any air trapped in the
system.
11. Stop the machine, check the oil level, and add oil as
required.
12. Dispose of the oil and filter properly.
Note: Recycle the oil and filter according to local
codes.

Adjusting the Drive Chain

Service Interval: After the first 5 hours—Check the drive
chain tension and adjust it as necessary.
Before each use or daily—Check the drive chain
tension and adjust it as necessary.
The drive chain is located under the rear cover and is
tensioned by the idler sprockets which are mounted to an
idler arm. This arm can be tensioned further if the chain has
stretched.
Chain Tension: deflection of 5 mm to 8 mm (0.2 inch to
0.3 inch)
1. Remove the mounting bolt and lift off the rear cover
(Figure 22)

2. Loosen the locking nut on the tensioning rod (Figure
23).

3. Adjust the tension as follows (Figure 23):
