New Menus for HP 16500L

When the HP 16500L LAN Interface Module is installed in your HP 16500B
mainframe, several new menus or menu choices become available in the
HP 16500B. These new fields and menus allow you to set up your LAN port
and configure the HP 16500B.
Communications Field
When the HP 16500L LAN Interface Module is installed in your HP 16500B
mainframe, the Communications Field in the System Configuration menu
now looks like the figure below. The asterisk in this field indicates which I/O
port (HP-IB, RS-232C or Ethernet) can control the HP 16500B system
remotely using the programming commands described in the HP 16500B
System Programmer's Guide. When you touch this field, the
Communication Configuration menu is displayed.
Three new features become available in the Communication Configuration
menu. The Controller Selection field now provides "Ethernet" as an
additional choice to the standard HP-IB and RS-232C interfaces. There are
two new Configuration fields: one labeled "Ethernet", and the other labeled
"X Window". The Ethernet configuration menus allow you to set the IP
address and change the system name. The X Window configuration menu
lets you identify the X server and open and close the HP 16500B's X Window
interface.
