SERVICE
Safe Handling
of Gasoline:
Toavoid personal i njuryorpropertydamageuseextremecarein handling
gasoline.Gasolineis extremelyflammable andthe vapors areexplosive.
Seriouspersonalinjury canoccurwhen gasolineisspilled on yourself or your
clotheswhich canignite. Washyourskin andchangeclothesimmediately.
Useonlyan approved gasoline container.
Never f ill containers insideavehicle or on atruckortrailer bedwith aplastic
liner.Alwaysplace containers on the groundawayfromyourvehicle before
filling.
Remove g as-powered e quipmentfrom the truckor trailerandrefuelit on
the ground.If thisisnot possible, t henrefuelsuch equipmentona trailer
with aportablecontainer, r atherthanfrom agasoline dispenser n ozzle.
Keep the nozzle incontactwith the rim of the fueltank or container o pening
at all timesuntilfuelingiscomplete. D onot useanozzlelock-open device.
Extinguish all cigarettes, c igars, p ipesandothersources
of ignition.
Never f uel machine indoorsbecause flammable vapors will accumulate in
the area.
Never r emove gascapor addfuel whileengineishot or running. Allow
engineto coolat leasttwo minutes beforerefueling.
Never o ver-fillfuel tank.Toallowforexpansion of the fuel,do not fill above
the bottomof the fueltank neck.
Replace g asoline capandtightensecurely.
Ifgasoline isspilled,wipeit offthe engineandequipment. M ovemachine to
anotherarea.Wait5 minutesbefore startingengine.
Never s torethe machine or fuelcontainernearanopenflame,sparkor pilot
lightason awaterheater, s pace heater, f urnace, c lothes dryeror othergas
appliances.
Toreduce fire hazard, k eepmachine freeofgrass, l eaves, o r otherdebris
build-up.Clean up oil or fuelspillageandremove anyfuel-soaked debris.
Allow machine tocoolat least5 minutesbefore storing.
General Service:
Never r unanengineindoorsor ina poorlyventilatedarea.Engine exhaust
contains carbonmonoxide, a n odorless a nddeadlygas.
Before cleaning, r epairing,or inspecting, m akecertainthe bladeandall
moving partshavestopped.Disconnect the sparkplugwire andground
againstthe engineto prevent u nintended starting.
Check t he bladeandenginemountingboltsat frequentintervals for proper
tightness.Also, v isuallyinspectbladefordamage (e.g.,bent,cracked,
worn) Replace b ladewiththe originalequipmentmanufacture's ( O.E.M.)
bladeonly,listedinthismanual. " Use of partswhichdo not meetthe
originalequipment s pecifications m ayleadto improperperformance and
compromise safety!"
Lawnedgerbladesaresharp andcancut.Wrapthe bladeor weargloves,
anduseextracautionwhenservicingthem.
Keep all nuts,bolts,andscrews tight to besuretheequipmentis insafe
workingcondition.
Never t amperwith safetydevices. C heck theirproperoperationregularly.
Afterstrikingaforeignobject,stopthe engine, d isconnect the sparkplug
wire andgroundagainst t he engine.Thoroughly inspectthe lawnedgerfor
anydamage. R epair t he damage before startingandoperatingthe lawn
edger.
Never a ttemptto makea wheeladjustment w hilethe engineis running.
Manycomponents o nyournewedgercanwearwithcontinueduse.For
safetyprotection,frequentlycheck all edgercomponents a ndreplace
immediately with originalequipmentmanufacturer's ( O.E.M.) parts

Donot change the enginegovernorsettingor overspeed theengine.The
governorcontrols the maximum safeoperatingspeed of the engine.

disposal o f fluidsandmaterials canharmthe environment.
