Fiber Optic Interface

The fiber optic interface for the Strata CIX1200 is the same RRCU1A card used to interface CIX670
Remote Cabinets. Refer to Figure 6. Each RRCU drives a multi-mode fiber optic cable pair and is
capable of interfacing two cabinets. Refer to Figure 8.
The location of the RRCU cards is relatively non-critical but, the HDCL1A-M cables must reach from
the EEXBS card connectors (refer to Figure 10) to the RRCU card edge connectors (refer to Figure 6).
The Base Cabinet Equipment Stack RRCU cards will all be placed in the Base Cabinet or in a cabinet
immediately above or below the Base Cabinet. The RRCU does not use time slots or connect to the
backplane switching at all. The RRCU card only draws power from the cabinet backplane. HDCL1A-M
cables will, typically, reach the first four or five slots of the cabinet above or below the RRCU and all
(except B101 and B102) slots in the base cabinet. Refer to Figure 7.
In the Expansion Cabinet Equipment Stack RRCU card placement is limited by cable length. While the
configuration tables and figures always show the RRCU in the even-numbered expansion cabinets,
they could be placed in an odd-number cabinet.
