NOTE: HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 Storage supports Direct Attach Copper Cables only with HP
ProCurve and HP 3COM switches. The Direct Attach Support is also available only for the
iSCSI protocol.
All drives within a HP 3PAR StoreServ encrypted array must be self-encrypted devices.
There cannot be a mixture of encrypted drives and non-encrypted drives within the
same array.
Self-encrypted drives are only supported on new HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 Storage
systems. Encryption is not supported on existing HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 systems
that are already deployed in customer use.
" FIPS 140-2 Validated Self-Encrypting Drives (SEDs) have been certified by the U.S.
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Canadian Communications
Security Establishment (CSE) as meeting the Level 2 security requirements for
cryptographic modules as defined in the Federal Information Processing Standards
(FIPS) 140-2 Publication
Strengthen the DAR solution in the future with software upgrade to FIPS validated
local key manager, or optional FIPS validated external key manager.
A data encryption license (LTU) is required to enable encryption on the array. One
encryption license is required for each encrypted array.
Once encryption is enabled on the 3PAR StoreServ Storage, it cannot be disabled.
The local key manager is included in the 3PAR OS. There is not a separately orderable
partnumber for the local key manager.
