Configuration guidelines
When you specify an operating mode for an LPU, follow these restrictions and guidelines:
•
The LSU1CGC2SE LPU does not support operating mode configuration.
The LSU1TGS48SF LPU supports only the normal, standard-ipv6, and port-extender modes. It can
•
operate in one of the modes at a moment. For more information about the port-extender mode, see
TRILL Configuration Guide and TRILL Command Reference.
•
An EA or EB card might reboot once or twice for self-optimization the first time you change its
operating mode or upgrade the software version of the switch after changing the card operating
mode. The process takes about 6 to 10 minutes.
If your switch has multiple EA or EB cards, specify the same operating mode for them.
•
Changing the operating mode for an LPU does not affect the overall specifications of the switch.
•
•
To make an operating mode change take effect, you must save the configuration and reboot the
switch.

Enabling the port-down function globally
The port-down function shuts down all network ports of a standalone switch or an IRF member switch
immediately after all its MPUs are unplugged or reboot abnormally. This function does not work as long
as the switch has an active MPU.
