If you remove the mask tray

light will turn yellow. Preparation of the face mask continues, but the
mask liquid is not dispensed. Dispensing begins only once the mask tray
has been placed correctly under the appliance and the face mask has
finished mixing.
After about 6 minutes, the facial mask will be ready and the facial
mask will automatically run into the mask tray
