9. Set the paging file size to the recommended value (Total memory size x 1.5) or more.
If using a Windows OS, refer to Chapter 1 (6.1 Specifying Memory Dump Settings (Debug Information)) in
"Installation Guide (Windows)".
For other OS, consult the manual provided with the operation system or contact the store where you
purchased it or your maintenance service company.

1.10.6 Removal / Replacement

To remove DIMM, reverse the installation procedure.
Take the steps below after replacing or removing DIMMs.
1.
Confirm that no error messages are displayed on POST. If any error message is displayed, refer to
Chapter 3 (1. Error Message) in "Maintenance Guide".
2.
Run BIOS Setup Utility, select Memory Configuration from the Advanced menu, and then specify Yes
for Memory Retest. After that, select Save Changes and Exit to reboot.

Set the size of Paging File to the recommended value (Total memory size x 1.5) or more.
If using a Windows OS, refer to Chapter 1 (6.1 Specifying Memory Dump Settings (Debug Information))
in "Installation Guide (Windows)".
For other OS, follow the manual of the OS.
1.10.7 Using Memory RAS Feature
The server has RAS feature including Standard (Independent) Memory feature (x4 SDDC ECC memory),
Memory Mirroring feature, Memory LockStep (x8 SDDC ECC memory) feature and Memory Sparing
feature. SDDC (Single Device Data Correction) allows automatic correction of memory error (multi-bit
error).
The memory area on the motherboard of the server is divided into three memory channels.
The Memory Mirroring and Memory LockStep features keep memory redundancy between two memory
channels by monitoring or altering memory active/inactive status, respectively.
Note
When removing a defective DIMM, check error messages displayed at POST or
NEC ESMPRO and check the DIMM socket where the defective DIMM is installed.
• To use the Memory Mirroring feature or Memory LockStep (x8 SDDC ECC memory)
Note
feature, additional memory board (N8102-577/578/5796) is required.
• To use Memory Sparing feature, additional memory board (N8102-581) is required.
• To use Standard (Independent) memory feature (x4 SDDC), additional memory board
(N8102-573/574/575) is required.
