MAINTENANCE

METHOD FOR REPLACING FUEL TANK BREATHER ELEMENT

Immediately after the engine is stopped, all the parts are still very hot, and may cause burn injury. Wait
for the temperature to go down, and then start the work.
1.
Remove the nut (2) of breather assembly (1) at the top of
the fuel tank, then remove the cover (3).
2.
Replace the breather element (4) with a new one.
3.
Install the cover (3) and nut (2).
Tightening torque of nut (2): 10 to 14 Nm {1.0 to 1.4 kgm}
NOTICE
If the breather assembly (1) is removed for replacement, apply a tool to the bolt (5) and tighten it.
Tightening torque：39 to 42 Nm {4 to 5 kgm}
METHOD FOR CHECKING AND LUBRICATING TENSION PULLEY ASSEMBLY
OF ALTERNATOR AND AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR DRIVE BELT
Pump in grease by using a grease gun through the grease fit-
ting shown by arrow.
(1) Tension pulley assembly (1 place)
Inspect the tension pulley assembly for play or leakage of
grease. Ask your Komatsu distributor for repair or replacement
if any abnormality is found.
METHOD FOR CHECKING ALL TIGHTENING POINTS OF ENGINE INTAKE PIPE
CLAMPS
Ask your Komatsu distributor for checking the tightening of the clamps between the air cleaner - turbocharger -
aftercooler - engine.

METHOD FOR CHECKING WELDED STRUCTURE

(Color check)
Cracks on the welded structure can be easily seen by visual check with the color check. Check the revolving
frame, center frame, boom, and arm every 1000 hours.
