a When measuring the compression pressure,
take care not to burn yourself on the exhaust
manifold, muffler, etc. or get caught in a rotating
part.
a Measure the compression pressure under the
following condition.
Engine oil temperature: 40 – 60°C
1. Remove the engine hood assembly and muffler.
4
Engine hood assembly:
2. Remove head cover (1) of the cylinder to meas-
ure the compression pressure.
3. Bring the cylinder to be tested to the compres-
sion top dead center and remove rocker arm
assembly (2).
a See Disassembly and assembly, "Removal
and installation of fuel injector assembly".

4. Disconnect fuel high-pressure tube (3) and
injector wiring harness and remove injector (4).
a Disconnect the terminal of the injector wiring
harness on the injector side and the bracket
on the rocker housing side and remove the
injector wiring harness (Loosen the 2 termi-
nal nuts alternately).
a Pass a wire, etc. under the fuel path project-
ed sideways and pull up the injector (Do not
pry the injector top up).
5. Install adapter D2 to the mounting hole on the
injector and the compression gauge D1.
a Fit the gasket to the injector end without fail
3 Holder mounting bolt:
a Fix the adapter with the injector holder.
58.8 – 73.5 Nm {6.0 – 7.5 kgm}
a Apply a little amount of engine oil to the con-
necting parts of the adapter and gauge so
that air will not leak easily.
6. Install rocker arm assembly (2) and adjust the
3 Rocker arm mounting bolt:
valve clearance.
93 – 103 Nm {9.5 – 10.5 kgm}
a See "Adjusting valve clearance."
