3.8.2 CUT3DC/CUT3DCD circumferential milling

In circumferential milling, the direction of compensation is always perpendicular to the plane on
which the cutter is moving. This is always defined by the current path tangent and the tool vector
and normally changes in each interpolation increment. It is defined with CUT3DC/CUT3DCD and
activated with G41/G42 (left/right).
The properties of the compensations for circumferential milling are compared in the table.

We recommend the use of the CUT3DCD function for circumferential milling.
Programming circumferential milling with CUT3DCD
3D TRC for circumferential milling referred to a differential tool is activated via the CUT3DCD
command. It should be applied if the programmed contour refers to the center-point path of a
differential tool, and a tool other than a differential tool is used for machining.
When calculating the 3D tool radius compensation, only the wear value of the radius of the
active tool ($TC_DP15,$TC_DP16) and any programmed tool compensation offsets OFFN
and TOFFR/TOFFL are taken into account. The basic radius ($TC_DP6) of the active tool is
not taken into account. Additional information, basic length = $TC_DP3.
