The measurement always refers to the operating noise of the pump. The measurement is
carried out in the ultrasonic range. In the ultrasonic range, the operating noise of the pump
and the closing noise of the valves are attenuated. Crosstalk between neighboring valves is
also attenuated.
The following table lists the possible states of discharge pressure, flow rate, energy
conversion coefficient and sound pressure level depending on the state of the valve:
SITRANS DA400 for oscillating positive displacement pumps
Operating Instructions, 09/2008, A5E00841120-03
Sensor signal (a) and sound pressure level (b) on an intact valve
Sound pressure level produced by load-dependent operating noise of the pump
Sound pressure level produced by the operating noise of the pump as well as a leak
Is the measured value of the acoustic diagnostics unit and corresponds to the additional noise
caused by the leak
Sensor signal (a) and sound pressure level (b) on a defective valve
