6.3 Equipment and materials required for work
Prepare the following equipment and materials for welding.
TIG' welding
Torch for TIG welding
Welding argon gas
Argon gas adjustor (YX-251A)
Base metal side cable [Stick welding]
Holder for stick welding
Base metal side cable
6.4 Installation location
This machine is designed for use in the following environmental conditions.
·. Indoor, dry and dust-free
·. Out of direct sunlight
·. Ambient temperature -10 to 40°C degree
·. At least 20cm clearance from nearest wall
·. Free of unusual vibration or shock.
·. No generation of oil vapor or harmful corrosive gas
N.B.
1) Remove corrugated fiberboard packing or vinyl cover.
2) Where two or more welders are used and they are set side by side, they must be separated by
clearance of at least 30cm.
3) When using a water cooled torch, use it in a temperature range of 0 ~ 40 °C.
6.5 Selection of tungsten electrode
Refer to the following table for tungsten electrode.
Electrode core diameter (mm)
Welding current (A)
(DC Electrode Negative)
Tungsten electrode ... YWTh (2% thorium tungsten)
6.6 Shielding Gas
For TIG welding use shielding gas, use welding argon gas. If any impurity such as oxygen, moisture or
nitrogen is mixed into argon gas, shielding effect decreases resulting in reduced quality of weld.
6.7 Filler wire
Material and thickness are determined by type of base metal and value of welding current respectively.
Generally, material of filler wire to be used is the same quality as that of base metal; however, it is important to
