Hard Drives

The PowerEdge M910 blades support up to two 2.5-inch SAS, SATA, or
solid-state disk (SSD) hard drives.
The PowerEdge M905 and M805 blades support one or two 2.5-inch SAS
hard-disk drives.
The PowerEdge M710 blade supports one to four 2.5-inch SAS hard drives.
The PowerEdge M710HD blade supports one or two 2.5-inch SAS or SSD
hard drives.
The PowerEdge M610, M610x, M605, and M600 blades support one or
two 2.5-inch SATA hard drives, one or two 2.5-inch SAS hard drives, or one
or two SSD hard drives.

Hard Drive Installation Guidelines

If a RAID controller storage card is installed, the blade supports hot-plug
drive removal and installation.
If less than the maximum number of hard drives are installed, hard drive
blanks must be installed to maintain proper cooling airflow.

Installing a Hard Drive

NOTE:
When a replacement hot-swappable hard drive is installed and the blade is
powered on, the hard drive automatically begins to rebuild. Make absolutely sure
that the replacement hard drive is blank or contains data that you wish to have
over-written. Any data on the replacement hard drive is immediately lost after the
hard drive is installed.
NOTE:
Not all operating systems support hot-plug drive installation. See the
documentation supplied with your operating system.
1 Open the hard-drive carrier handle. See Figure 3-53.
SAS and SATA hard drives cannot be mixed within a blade.
Hot-plug operation is supported if an optional RAID controller card is
