2 Installing HP NetServer AutoPilot

This chapter details the installation of HP AutoPilot Client and the supporting NSA
server software. Be sure you have complied with the requirements for hardware and
software as listed in the "Required Hardware and Software" section in Chapter 1.
HP AutoPilot Client installation is performed in the context of the HP NetServer's
network operating system—either Novell NetWare or Microsoft Windows NT.
NOTE The Client must be network connected and running TCP/IP and SNMP
services. See the "Required Hardware and Software" section in Chapter 1.
To begin HP AutoPilot installation, run the HP AutoPilot software stored on the HP
NetServer Navigator CD-ROM that came with your system.
The instructions listed here are based on a CD-ROM installation. If you prefer to use
diskettes instead of a CD-ROM, you can make diskette masters of the HP AutoPilot
software through the "HP Management Solutions" menu of the HP NetServer
Navigator CD-ROM. If you make diskette masters, be sure to note any changes in
drive designation or directory structure as you install the software.
If You Have HP NetServers Running Novell NetWare
During HP AutoPilot Client installation, you may also install NSA 3.0 software via the
network to your HP NetServers running Novell NetWare. Before proceeding with
installation involving NetWare servers:
Identify and list the network names of all the Novell NetWare servers you want to
monitor. The installation program prompts you for this list. You will need to
install NSA 3.0 software on each HP NetServer you want to monitor.
Make sure you have supervisor-level privileges on all Novell NetWare servers on
which you plan to install NSA 3.0 software—you'll need them to complete some of
the installation steps.
Verify that each listed Novell NetWare server has an ASPI manager loaded.
Close all programs and applications currently running on your HP AutoPilot
Client.
